What is SAP-SAP is the calculation of the annual energy cost for space heating, water heating, ventilation, and lighting. It also quantifies the total CO2 emissions from the property each year and this information is also used to produce the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).

At design/building regulation stage a new dwelling application to the Local Authority has to be accompanied by a SAP 2012 calculation to show compliance with Part L1A of the 2016 regulations.
