Barn Conversion – Cold Hanworth

Ryland Design were commissioned to transform a derelict agricultural building into two stunning modern homes in Cold Hanworth. Our involvement began with a detailed measured survey of the existing barns, followed by initial sketches, planning applications and approvals, and the preparation of a comprehensive Building Regulations package.

Our design approach respected the original character of the barn while introducing contemporary features and layouts to create spacious, family-friendly living environments. The properties were designed with exceptional thermal efficiency and insulation, ensuring modern performance standards without compromising on charm.

Each home incorporates a large family hub and open-plan spaces, blending rustic aesthetics with practical functionality. By managing the entire process—from concept and planning through to Building Regulations compliance and detailed design—we brought the client’s vision to life. The result: two fabulous homes that combine heritage appeal with the benefits of a new build.
